Christmas village houses under $40: 14 ways in
A lit Christmas village is the rare collectible you can start for the price of a wreath. On 31 August 2026, 57 of the 172 village listings we priced came in under $40 — including accessories from the collectible lines themselves, which is the cheapest legitimate way into a real village rather than a lookalike.

Under $40, cheapest first
Last verified 31 August 2026 against 172 Christmas village listings in the CJ product feed (US advertisers), 57 of them under $40. Median across the whole set $57.79. Prices move; read them as the market on that date, not a promise. Peer-to-peer marketplace asks of $500 or more are excluded as seller placeholders, as are repdigit asks such as $1,234 and $9,999 wherever they appear; retailer prices are used as published.

Two different products are hiding in that table
The generic LED resin cottages at $11 to $32 are seasonal decor. They are not part of any series, they carry no maker stamp and no introduction year, and they will never be worth more than you paid. They are also, in a dark room, completely fine.
The 8 Department 56 rows in the table are something else: accessories and electricals from a collectible line that has been running since 1976. A $3.99 light-string component or a $15.99 boxed village flag is a real piece of the same system whose buildings run into the hundreds. If you plan to build a village over several years, start with those, not with the resin.
The mistake people make in year one
Buying buildings before buying power. A village needs a light-string system, and the cheap route is to buy the maker’s own multi-socket cords second-hand while they are $4 rather than to buy a building at full price and discover it does not light. The electrical bits are the least glamorous listings on this page and the ones we would buy first.
