The Cuisinart row is a lesson in reading these tables rather than a bargain. A manufacturer's own store lists accessories, filters and carafes alongside machines, and those dominate the count — which is why its median is $24.95. It is not selling espresso machines for twenty-five dollars.
Set that aside and the pattern is clean: general merchants cluster in the low hundreds, appliance and design specialists cluster near and above a thousand. Neither is wrong. But shopping one of them and forming a view of ‘what espresso machines cost’ will give you a view that is off by a factor of four.

Astra Manufacturing in seventh place is a good reminder of what this keyword actually covers: it is a commercial espresso equipment maker, and its presence is most of why the $1,000-plus band is as large as it is. If you are shopping for a kitchen, a fifth of the category is not aimed at you.

We price machines; we do not test them, and a price census cannot tell you which one pulls a good shot. What it can do is tell you which questions the listing should already have answered.
- Is it a pump machine, a stovetop pot or a capsule machine? All three are returned by the same search and they are different products at different prices.
- Does it include a grinder? A machine without one needs a grinder alongside it, and grinders in our pull ran a $44.99 median.
- Is the pressure figure a pump maximum or a brew pressure? Almost always the former. We counted what the listings claim in a separate piece.
- Is it a commercial unit? A fifth of this category is, and the listing will usually say so somewhere below the fold.
- What is the return window? On an appliance you cannot try first, this is worth more than a small price difference.
