What is a vintage cassette Walkman worth?
We cannot tell you, and that is itself the finding worth citing. Of the 120 Walkman-titled listings from US advertisers, 43 come from peer-to-peer resale marketplaces and not one of them is a Walkman. They are t-shirts, a CD case, a promotional cap, a fanny pack, swim trunks, a windbreaker and a printed face mask.

Sony made roughly 220 million cassette-based Walkman units before ending production in 2010, and around 400 million Walkman devices of all types by that year. The last cassette model sold in the United States was the WM-FX290W, first released in 2004. Common objects do not become valuable by getting old.
