Where to buy a Tamagotchi: 111 listings compared
Bandai still makes Tamagotchi and US retailers still stock them, so this is a normal shopping question rather than a hunt. 117 Tamagotchi devices were listed new by US retailers on 17 September 2026, from $4.98 to $60.62, at a median of $28.99 — 91 cents from the $29.90 this page recorded on 1 September, so the price level is confirmed rather than revised. What did change is the top of the range and what is actually in stock.
Where Tamagotchi is actually sold
| Retailer (17 September 2026) | Devices listed | Cheapest | Median | Dearest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FYE | 39 | $23.49 | $30.49 | $54.49 |
| antonline | 22 | $35.03 | $36.10 | $60.62 |
| BOOKSAMILLION.COM | 17 | $10.00 | $19.99 | $44.99 |
| Woot! | 15 | $4.98 | $21.99 | $31.99 |
| Kids-World | 10 | $21.40 | $26.48 | $48.20 |
| GameFly - Online Video Game Rentals | 7 | $17.79 | $22.24 | $40.04 |
| Toynk | 4 | $19.43 | $26.48 | $49.99 |
| BoxLunch | 1 | $24.90 | $24.90 | $24.90 |
| Hot Topic | 1 | $24.90 | $24.90 | $24.90 |
| Walgreens | 1 | $19.99 | $19.99 | $19.99 |
The spread between those retailers is not a spread on the same product. Entertainment retailers carry the current full-size models; the flash-sale end of the market carries Nano tier and collaboration models, which is why its floor sits so low.

New or secondhand?
| Where you buy (17 September 2026) | Listings priced | Cheapest | Median | Dearest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New at US retailers | 117 | $4.98 | $28.99 | $60.62 |
| Peer-to-peer resale | 7 | $15.00 | $30.00 | $140.00 |
Buy new unless you specifically want a discontinued model, though the gap has narrowed: secondhand asks a median of $30.00 against $28.99 new on 17 September 2026, where a fortnight ago it was $53.00 against $29.90. Read that resale figure carefully — it is seven listings, against three a fortnight ago, and neither is enough to call a market. What has not changed is the object: a used virtual pet is a used battery-powered toy with a screen that may have burned in and buttons that may have stopped registering. The exception is genuine: the Connection family and the Japan-only colour models are not sold new anywhere, so resale is the only route to them.
Which one to buy
- Buying for a child, or for yourself, first time: the Original reissue. Three buttons, grey screen, no account, no app.
- Buying cheap or as a gift add-on: a Nano. Smallest tier, lowest price, no connectivity.
- Buying the newest thing: Uni (wrist-worn, Wi-Fi) or Paradise, the 2025 model.
- Wanting two units that talk to each other: that is the Connection family, secondhand only.
Last verified 17 September 2026 against 117 priced Tamagotchi device listings from US advertisers in the CJ product feed, read to the same sample size as the 111-listing survey this page was built from so the two are comparable. Tamagotchi-branded stationery, masking tape, memo pads, nanoblock kits, plush, straps and apparel are excluded so the tables count devices only — a stricter exclusion than the original run used, which is why a $13.49 plush that appeared here on 1 September does not appear now. Prices are as published on that date.
