How much does a tech creator earn per link?
Order values inside one niche differ by nearly four times before a single rate is applied. Five tech subcategories measured, including the one where more than half of all listings were already discounted.
Some links here are affiliate links — if you buy, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. We have earned $0 from them so far. Here’s how it works.
Part of: For creators
Not one number, because within tech the same creator can earn ten times more per sale depending on which shelf they linked. Measured on live US listings on 2 September 2026: monitors and laptop stands ran a $110.50 median, power and charging $97.29, webcams and microphones $64.07, keyboards $35.39 and headphones $29.99. Tech also has the widest retailer choice we have measured in any niche — 26 distinct retailers on webcams alone — and the heaviest discounting on its most-linked product.

The spread inside one niche
The question “how much do tech creators earn” has no answer at niche level, and the reason is visible in a single pull. A creator who reviews desk setups and a creator who reviews earbuds are in the same niche, have the same follower count, and are selling products whose median prices differ by a factor of nearly four before a single rate is applied.
So what follows is not an earnings figure. It is the input you need to build one for yourself, measured on the day it was published.
Five subcategories, measured
| Subcategory | Listings matched | Median | Middle half | Distinct retailers | Carrying a sale price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monitors and laptop stands | 149 | $110.50 | $37.24 – $233.99 | 21 | 30 |
| Power and charging | 156 | $97.29 | $37.99 – $180.00 | 18 | 16 |
| Webcams and microphones | 186 | $64.07 | $31.46 – $119.99 | 26 | 53 |
| Keyboards | 95 | $35.39 | $16.59 – $99.99 | 24 | 17 |
| Headphones | 109 | $29.99 | $17.00 – $66.99 | 15 | 61 |

Tech has the best programme choice we have measured
26 distinct retailers on webcams and microphones, 24 on keyboards, 21 on monitors. Across every niche we have measured on live feeds — fashion, beauty, home, parenting, fitness, travel, food, lifestyle and luxury — nothing else reaches those numbers except beauty skincare.
Why it matters more than order value: retailer count is your insurance. A creator whose category has one supplier is one programme rejection or one closure away from having nothing to link. A tech creator has two dozen alternatives holding overlapping stock, which is a materially different business risk even though it never appears in an earnings estimate.

And the worst discount exposure
61 of 109 matched headphone listings — 56% — carried a sale price below list at the moment we pulled them. That is the highest proportion in any subcategory we measured today, in any niche.
Headphones are also the single most-linked product in tech creator content. So the structural position is: the thing your audience is most likely to buy through you is the thing most likely to be discounted when they do, and commission normally follows the price paid rather than the list price.
- Webcams and microphones were second at 53 of 186 (28%).
- Power and charging was the least discounted at 16 of 156 (10%), and it carries the second-highest median. That combination is quietly the best earning position in the niche.
- None of this is an argument against reviewing headphones. It is an argument for knowing which half of your catalogue is carrying the revenue.

Turning this into a range for your own account
Four inputs, three of which only you have:
- Median order value for what you actually link. Use the table above as a starting point and replace it with your own statement data as soon as you have any.
- Your commission rate, read from your own programme terms. We publish none, because no public source we tried on 2 September 2026 printed a current, citable one.
- Orders you can evidence, from statements you have been paid on. Not a conversion rate borrowed from an article.
- A discount haircut for the subcategory. On headphones that is not a rounding adjustment.
The position: the accessory link is the underpriced one
An argued claim rather than a hedge. The most valuable change available to most tech creators is not switching programmes, it is adding one accessory link to every review.
Three measurements point the same way. Accessories sit in the most competitive part of the catalogue: webcams and microphones returned 26 distinct US retailers and keyboards 24, against 15 for headphones. They are discounted far less often: power and charging ran 16 of 156 listings on sale, 10%, against 56% for headphones. And their order values are higher — a $97.29 median for power and charging against $29.99 for headphones.
So the accessory link is deeper, steadier and worth more per sale than the flagship link in the same video. It also costs nothing extra to include, because the stand, the cable and the pad are already on the desk being filmed.
The limit of the claim: we have no click or conversion data, so this is an argument about catalogue economics and not about audience behaviour. A creator whose audience only ever clicks the headline product should ignore it and say so.
Frequently asked
How much do tech creators earn per sale?
It varies by an order of magnitude within the same niche. Median asking prices on 2 September 2026 ran from $29.99 for headphones to $110.50 for monitors and laptop stands. The commission rate is yours to read in your own programme terms; we could not source a citable one.
Does tech have good affiliate programme choice?
The best we have measured. Webcams and microphones returned 26 distinct US retailers, keyboards 24 and monitors 21. A rejection from any one programme costs a tech creator an afternoon, not a category.
Why do headphone links earn less than they look like they should?
Because 61 of 109 matched headphone listings carried a sale price below list on the date we checked. Commission normally follows the price paid, so the most-linked product in tech is also the one most often discounted at the moment of purchase.
What is the highest order value in tech content?
Monitors and laptop stands at a $110.50 median, with a middle half of $37.24 to $233.99. Power and charging was second at $97.29.
Should a tech creator join a brand programme or a retailer programme?
Retailer first, on these numbers: a single retailer approval covers many brands and stays useful when a brand relationship ends. Brand programmes are worth the admin only where you cover that brand continuously.

How this guide was made. We research and draft these guides with AI, then a person checks every price, link and factual claim against the source before it publishes. We work this way because it lets us re-verify prices across hundreds of guides in a day, which is what keeps the numbers here current; it does not decide what we recommend. Anything we could not verify is labelled as unverified rather than filled in.
