What can a parenting creator actually link to?
Part of: For creators
Two things a parenting creator should know before choosing programmes. First, the baby catalogue is small: about 234,686 live in-stock US listings on 1 September 2026, against 150,940,975 for apparel. Second, searching it by category noun does not return what you think — a live pull on "stroller" comes back full of cup holders, footmuffs, rain covers and dog strollers, and "car seat" comes back full of seat covers and gap fillers. The median price of those rows is not the price of the hardware.

A small catalogue, but a diverse one
Baby & Toddler held 234,686 live in-stock US listings — one of the smaller catalogues we measured, roughly a six-hundredth the size of apparel. In a 600-row sample the median was $57.19, with 182 rows under $25 and 187 at $100 or above.
The good news is in the retailer column: 27 distinct retailers appeared in that sample, the highest count of any top-level category we pulled tonight. Parenting is thin but not concentrated — the opposite of home decor, and it means no single programme rejection is fatal here.
| Retailer in the sample | Rows of 600 |
|---|---|
| Wayfair North America | 139 |
| Fat Brain Toys | 122 |
| UnbeatableSale.com | 95 |
| JCPenney Affiliate | 64 |
| Schweitzer Linen | 44 |
The keyword trap, with the evidence
This is the finding worth the page. When we pulled live listings whose titles contain the category noun, here is a fair sample of what came back:
- "Stroller Cup Holder, Stroller Bag, Stroller Caddy Organizer"
- "Dog Stroller Large Pet Stroller"
- "Stroller Rain Cover, Baby Stroller Windshield"
- "Pet Car Seat Cover And Waterproof Trunk Mat"
- "Car Seat Gap Filler, Car Seat Gap Storage Box"
So the $25.00 median in the stroller row below is mostly the price of stroller accessories, and the $19.16 car-seat median is largely seat covers and organisers for adult cars. Both figures are correct as measurements of what the search returns, and both would be badly wrong if read as the price of the hardware.
The lesson generalises past this niche: in accessory-heavy categories, search by brand and model, not by category noun. A parenting creator who sizes the opportunity from a category-noun search will conclude that pushchairs cost $25, and will build a content plan on it.
Six subcategories, pulled live
| Subcategory | Listings matched | Median | Middle half | Retailers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strollers | 157 | $25.00 | $14.00 – $67.99 | 12 |
| Car Seats | 105 | $19.16 | $10.00 – $30.00 | 9 |
| Nursery Furniture | 95 | $106.99 | $40.00 – $259.98 | 11 |
| Baby Clothing | 211 | $15.00 | $10.00 – $20.00 | 4 |
| Feeding | 191 | $29.00 | $15.00 – $69.99 | 18 |
| Toys | 164 | $15.00 | $9.00 – $30.00 | 18 |
Method: CJ product API, US advertisers, in-stock only, keyword pulls filtered to titles containing the item type, de-duplicated by retailer and title, 1 September 2026. Read the stroller and car-seat rows with the caveat above: they measure the search, not the hardware.
Baby clothing
- The deepest subcategory at 211 matched listings, and the cheapest at a median of $15.00.
- Only 4 retailers matched, most of it resale, so individual listings are one-of-one and links decay fast.
- Sizing by age is a lie every parent already knows. Saying which brand runs small is the entire value you can add here.
Nursery furniture
- Much the highest order value at $106.99, middle half $40.00 to $259.98.
- 11 retailers, so there is genuine choice at the top of the basket — unusual in a category this thin.
- Long decision cycles apply exactly as they do in home decor.
Feeding
- 191 matched listings across 18 retailers, median $29.00.
- The best repeat-purchase behaviour in the niche: bottles, teats and cups are replaced on a schedule rather than bought once.
Toys
- Median $15.00 across 18 retailers — broad supply, low order value.
- Age-banding is the recommendation. A toy post without an age range is a photograph.
Strollers, as searched
- 157 matched rows at a median of $25.00 — accessories, covers and pet strollers, as set out above.
- Genuine pushchair listings are in there, but they are the minority and they sit near the top of the range rather than at the median.
Car seats, as searched
- 105 matched rows, median $19.16, dominated by covers, cushions and organisers.
- We would treat this row as unusable for planning, and we would not link the hardware at all — see the next section.

The links we would not publish
An editorial position, stated plainly because it costs clicks and is therefore not the kind of thing an affiliate page usually says.
- Second-hand car seats. A seat has an expiry date and a crash history, and neither is visible in a listing photograph. There is no way to verify from a resale listing that the seat is safe, so we will not link one and we would not advise recommending one.
- Second-hand infant sleep products. Recall status and missing hardware are the risks, and both are invisible to us and to your reader.
- Drop-side cots and older nursery furniture on resale. Standards have changed; a listing photograph does not tell you which standard the item was built to.
- Anything where our identification confidence is low. That is our standing rule everywhere, and it binds hardest in a category where being wrong is not a refund problem.
New hardware from a retailer that states the model and the standards it meets is a different proposition, and is where we would put parenting hardware links if we published them.
Where to apply, in what order
- The general retailers first. In our sample the biggest suppliers of baby listings were general home and department retailers rather than baby specialists, so those approvals cover the most ground.
- A specialist toy or baby retailer second, for the products the general retailers stock shallowly.
- Resale marketplaces last, and only for clothing. Clothing is where second-hand is genuinely sensible; it is also where links die fastest, so treat those posts as perishable.

Frequently asked
What are the best affiliate programmes for parenting creators?
General home and department retailers first, because in our sample they supplied more baby listings than the specialists did; then a specialist baby or toy retailer; then resale marketplaces, and for clothing only.
How big is the baby and toddler affiliate catalogue?
About 234,686 live in-stock US listings on 1 September 2026 — one of the smaller catalogues we measured — but spread across 27 retailers in our sample, which was the widest spread of any category we pulled that night.
Why is the median stroller price so low?
Because a title search for "stroller" returns cup holders, organisers, rain covers and pet strollers alongside pushchairs. The $25.00 figure measures that search accurately and would be wrong if read as the price of a pushchair. Search by brand and model instead.
Should parenting creators link to second-hand car seats?
We would not. A car seat has an expiry date and a possible crash history, and neither is verifiable from a listing photograph. That is a category where being wrong is not a refund problem.
Which parenting subcategory has the highest order value?
Nursery furniture, at a median of $106.99 against $15.00 for baby clothing in the same pull.
